Welcome to Volkswagen Marine.

Company

Salzgitter engine plant is a site with over 7.000 employees, where production of the extremely successful TDI technology was started in the early 90s. Our plant earned a unique degree of universal competence for the manufacture of complex or unusual engine projects. That explains why the 620 hp engine for the Bentley Continental is made here, as well as the 1001 hp engine for the Bugatti Veyron.

However, diesel engines remain a particular focus at Salzgitter, this being manifested by our V-10 biturbo at over 300 hp (used in Touareg and Phaeton), but also by our High Tech three cylinder diesels with their record-braking fuel efficiency.

In total, some 7000 engines leave our plant every working day. For the Marine engines, we created a special assembly process in the "marine hall 10", which is relatively small but clinically clean. Highly trained staff and computer controlled assembly tooling interact and supervise each other. We can provide the tightening graph for any relevant bolt on our engines even 10 years after production. In addition, each individual engine passes a hot test on one of our break stands.

This perfectionism is the Volkswagen Marine Way of taking maximised reliability to sea.
